Phonology:
Identifying the Area of Difficulty
Listen carefully to where a student needs help with pronunciation. Is it with a consonant? A vowel? Access a phonics phone (basically a piece of plastic PVC pipe) so the student can hear what he/she is saying; you should then demonstrate the correct pronunciation. You will have to isolate the sound and show the student what should be happening with the lips, the teeth, the airflow.
