Grammar: Not All Issues Are Worth Addressing
Keep in mind that some mistakes in grammar will correct themselves over time; a student’s errors may be a function of not enough exposure to the language. Some other grammar mistakes may simply not be worth focusing on. It just may be time to let go of the pronoun agreement issue and allow “they” to suffice when referring to a singular antecedent. It would be much more worthwhile to address subject-verb agreement, for example, if this is posing a problem for your students.
